Through the educational knowledge, personal knowledge and experience of board and staff, Sensory Friendly Colorado's vision is to expand on training for several groups that make big impacts on our individuals with sensory processing challenges and comorbid conditions, that are often overlooked.
This list includes but is not limited to:
Through personal experience, Sensory Friendly Colorado understands the plight of adults with sensory processing challenges and comorbid conditions while in the community - especially while attending a day program.
Sensory Friendly Colorado's vision will be to implement bigger opportunities for these adults to increase levels of independence and help them to enjoy their best life.
We envision these opportunities to come in the form of experiences like joining a pool league, ability to attend a large venue like Water World, enjoy sensory friendly restaurant nights, and/or create opportunity for sports or fitness, just to name a few. We will be seeking community input to find the gaps in their community.
Advocacy can come in a variety of forms. Sensory Friendly Colorado's vision is to create more awareness around the community in regard to inclusion.
Often, businesses don't understand what it means to be sensory friendly inclusive, and by providing knowledge and opportunity we hope to create options for businesses, entertainment venues, grocery stores, health offices, etc., to start feeling confident about opening their spaces.
If you know of a space that could use encouragement, we would love to help advocate for you! Chances are, you are not the only family that has wanted to be there, too.
